Mujahadeen-e-KhalqPosted: February 16, 2007
Mujahadeen-e-Khalq (MEK) is the largest and most militant group opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Also known as the People’s Mujahadeen Organization of Iran, MEK is led by husband and wife Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. MEK was added to the U.S. State Department’s list of foreign terrorist groups in 1997 and to the European Union’s terrorist list in 2002 because its attacks have often killed civilians.
And why should we be interested in them?
Despite MEK’s violent tactics, the group’s strong stand against Iran part of President Bush’s axis of evil and pro-democratic image have won it support among some U.S. and European lawmakers.
Interesting I’m sure you’ll agree. Here is some more;
One of the operational assets being used by the Defense Department is a right-wing terrorist organization known as Mujahedeen-e Khalq (MEK), which is being “run” in two southern regional areas of Iran. They are Baluchistan, a Sunni stronghold, and Khuzestan, a Shia region where a series of recent attacks has left many dead and hundreds injured in the last three months.
And most importantly;
According to all three intelligence sources, military and intelligence officials alike were alarmed that instead of securing a known terrorist organization, which has been responsible for acts of terror against Iranian targets and individuals all over the world – including US civilian and military casualties – Rumsfeld under instructions from Cheney, began using the group on special ops missions into Iran to pave the way for a potential Iran strike.
So if / when we hear of acts of terrorism perpetrated by MEK in Iran, we’ll know who is behind them. It would seem that the US Government (specifically Cheney’s government) is now a State Sponsor of Terrorism, and should, as a consequence, be added to the Axis Of Evil.
Regime change anyone?
